Labor Day Weekend

We don't have much on tap this weekend.  We have a picnic planned at 11:30 this morning so we are scurrying around trimming and baking chicken thighs, heading off to buy sweet corn and soda, etc.  It will be a lot of fun.

Some of you astute LBRs probably noticed the B-17 on the front page of yesterday's newspaper.  Yep, The Sentimental Journey has returned to Idaho Falls.  Is was here a couple of years ago and we did a slide show on it.  Houn' Dawg and Sharon "Chicken Eyes" W. took a tour with me.  They hammed it up on the .50 caliber at the waist gunner's position.  Click here to see that classic.  You can bet we will be out there once again soaking up the ambiance of a B-17. Most of you know that my Father was a top turret gunner on a B-17 before he was shot down and spent time in a variety of Nazi prison camps.

Susun's back is coming along but still far from 100%.  We made some good progress in prepping Snappy (AKA: The Nissan) for the Jenny Lake trip.  Our weather there next week should be in the 70's during the day and upper 30's overnight.  This morning's low here was 41 degrees.  It was 43 yesterday.  The highs were delightfully cool compared to our recent heat wave.  Stanley didn't break a record yesterday--it "only" dropped to 24 Friday morning.  The record is 20 for that date.  It will be slightly warmer each of the remaining mornings of Gary's hike.

Have you heard of Airbnb?  If you haven't, you need to check it out.  Click here to do so.  Someone we know might be going to Ventura, California next May.  Airbnb helped find a $30 room in that pricey city.  When you go to their gateway page, just type in any location anywhere. Or simply watch their slide show.  It's awesome and is getting rave reviews.  We've already found a great private home in Kanab, Utah, to stay in on our trip south in November.  Cost?  $55 a night.  Click here to see one in Brookings, Oregon, that really us salivating to return to the Coast.  Airbnb is already a real boon and destined to become one of the world's premier methods of finding and booking creative accommodations.  Airbnb ROX!

Well, lots to do so we are off.  More tomorrow morning.  Have a great Holiday weekend and many cheers. jp
