July 4th Weekend Underway

Good Morning and Happy July 4th Weekend! Susun is doing well this morning. She continues on three different heavy artillery pain meds and will probably be laid up all day.  She is now able to get up and fetch her own meds and ice packs so my need to be "Johnny On The Spot" has lessened. We very much appreciate the emails and blog comment about her situation.  THANK YOU!  Even though it's a holiday weekend, her Doc has already called to check on her recovery and will continue to keep a watchful eye on her throughout the next few days.  He's a cool guy.

My day yesterday was pretty much a "mill around" day.  Lots of menial errands including a couple of trips to the WINCO Spa & Relaxation Center just to watch the buying frenzy underway there.  The Friday before the 4th is a pretty amazing sight to see at WINCO.  It's pure and utter mayhem only marginally controlled.  Very interesting phenomena.

We tried to dive back into our Cook Shack.  The poor little place has been sadly neglected for many months.  It's going to take some dedication and focus to get it up and running and feng shui once again.

This morning, we're going target shooting with Mike and Chance.  We've both had lots of developments in the firearms end of things since we last went shooting weeks ago.  They area very fun Father-Son pair and we're sure looking forward to it.

Well, here's a great quote from the very top of the USGS Wyoming Real Time Streamflow page:

"July 1, 2011: USGS water-resources monitoring have been temporarily suspended at 06225500 Wind River near Crowheart WY following destruction of the gagehouse by flood flows. Station operation will recommence as soon as a temporary streamgage can be installed."

The morning paper says that the highway west of Dubois, Wyoming, has been flooded and over $4-million in flood damage has been caused by the Upper Wind River in that area.  As you will recall, we were over there last year in late June.  Now would not be a good time to be visiting the Dubois area.

Yellowstone Falls crept above 8000 cfs this morning.  It's in the #5 All Time Peak Flow ranking right now.  if it can creep past 8250, it will be in #4.  It's looking a lot less likely that it will take out the Top Three spots.  We still plan to go over there to check it out.  We saw it at about 7000 a few years back.  The addition of another 1000 cfs will probably make a noticeable visual difference.

Well, there's not much else to report today.  Thanks for all your kind wishes for Susun's situation!  Have a great Saturday and Many Cheers, jp
